Check out the prohibition-ready package just sent over from our friends at Cornerstone (courtesy of HBO and Canadian Club), tucked away inside a hollowed out copy of The Anti-Saloon Year Book (1920 edition), which “tracked the temperance movement’s progress from year to year.”  Cheers Nucky!

Boardwalk Empire is going to wow audiences

Filed under: Boardwalk Buzz — Boardwalk Empire @ 3:04 pm

Like the best HBO period pieces like Deadwood and Rome, Boardwalk Empire looks like it is going to wow audiences right off the bat with its look and feel. The sets, costumes, writing and performance all harken to the 1920s, totally immersing the viewer in the world they are watching.

The show also just looks good. It seems well put-together, and well executed. No wonder, Terrence Winter, who was one of the most acclaimed writers on The Sopranos is the mastermind behind the show, and his partner in crime is a little guy they brought in from the movies who goes by Martin Scorsese. Scorsese directed the pilot episode, and apparently will continue to be “creatively involved” in the production.
