HBO has teamed up with Ceasar’s Atlantic City, LivingSocial, and Canadian Club, and the New York City MTA to bring attention to the new season starting this month.

The network has worked with New York City’s MTA to place a vintage 1920s train on the 2/3 line.

Riders can actually hop on the train on weekends this month starting this weekend at the 42nd, 72nd and 96th Street stations.  During the last weekend of September HBO will be at the 42nd and 72nd Street stops to hand out free metrocards.

The train is an authentic museum piece used in the 1920s by the Interborough Rapid Transit system and features rattan seats, ceiling fans and drop sash windows.

HBO has added its own show-related signage to the train.

From The Godfather to The Sopranos to Boardwalk Empire

Dominic Chianese

Dominic Chianese

Actor/musician Dominic Chianese has the distinction of being the only actor to appear in the greatest mobster movie series (as Johnny Ola in The Godfather: Part II) and the greatest mobster TV series as a series regular (as Uncle Junior on “The Sopranos”). [Both Richard Bright and Vittorio Duse also appeared in both the Godfather series and “The Sopranos”, although they weren’t regular cast members of “The Sopranos”.]

Terrence Winter, Boardwalk Empire’s creator and executive producer (and fellow Sopranos alum) has confirmed that Chianese will appear in 6 of the 12 Season Two episodes of BE as “Leander Whitlock”, a contemporary of Dabney Coleman’s character — The Commodore.

Chianese is multi-talented performer–as well as being an actor, he is an accomplished singer. He released a CD in late 2000 on which he sings American and Italian standards and joins Les Paul and Woody Allen as celebrities who have regular music gigs in New York.

Terence Winter Knows How Boardwalk Empire Will End

“Boardwalk Empire” creator Terence Winter has already figured out the show’s ending.

He doesn’t know when it will be, of course. He hopes for five or six seasons of the HBO Prohibition drama, which returns for its second season in the fall after its first scored 18 Emmy nominations, including for best drama.

Endings are especially important to Winter after his run on “The Sopranos,” which resolved with perhaps the most disputed conclusion in TV history: A dinner out for Tony Soprano and family that ended with an abrupt cut to black.

Winter, thankfully, won’t say anything about how his “Empire” will end – except that it probably won’t be happy for all involved.
