Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City, is a book by Nelson Johnson. Johnson says the book took him 20 years to make and it seems like it. It is dense, interesting and exceptionally readable. It tells the story of Enoch “Nucky” Johnson and the rise to power and corruption of Atlantic City.
An interesting man and an interesting story from prohibition. Boardwalk Empire tells the tale of Atlantic City in it’s true heyday, the roaring twenties and prohibition. A story of politics, gangsters, bootlegging a a whole lot more.
